Coconut Oil-The Best Fat Burner
As a Low carber,one key to successful steady weight loss is to ensure steady blood sugar so that any extreme ups and downs are avoided and don’t cause you to fall off the wagon and make a beeline for the junk food aisle at the grocery store. I have been doing very well with my low carb shopping, and I have been making sure that I keep a supply of coconut oil for my cooking and for my skin and hair. I keep one jar in the bathroom, and 1 jar in my refrigerator.
One of the very best fats to assist in any weight loss goal is coconut oil, a healthy medium chain saturated fatty acid that boosts metabolism and is used by the body for immediate energy but doesn’t end up as stored body fat like longer chain fatty acids sometimes can.
Countries that consume high amounts of coconut and coconut oil in their diets such as the Philippines, India, and the Pacific Islands have significantly fewer cases of heart disease and obesity clearly disproving any agenda driven smear campaign against this marvelously healthy oil!
I recently discovered that I must avoid Olive Oil now that I am in the fat burning mode to lose the weight.This is surprising to many people as olive oil is typically the first “healthy oil” that they think of due to heavy promotion of this Mediterranean oil by conventional doctors and nutritionists.
In fact, a 1994 study published in The Lancet noted that the fatty acid most predominantly found in body fat was monounsaturated fat like that found in high amounts in olive oil!
Could this be why those in Mediterranean countries so often gain weight at middle age? Well, I am a middle aged American woman, who started using Olive Oil when I switched over to a low carb lifestyle, but for some reason I wanted to research more about the healthy oils, and read that Olive Oil was not the oil I should be consuming in my diet for fat loss. So I am avoiding the Olive Oil and sticking with Coconut Oil, which for years now I have enjoyed and time after time, it truly does keep my full, feeling energized and staying healthy. I have the inflammatory auto immune disease, but with Oil Pulling, and consuming Coconut Oil and sticking to a Ketogenic diet, which is a low carb diet, but higher in fats, I have noticed steady fat loss.
How to Use Coconut Oil for Speedy Weight Loss
Coconut oil naturally solidifies at 76F so it is best to liquify it in hot water before consuming as a weight loss aid.
Twenty minutes before mealtime is the best time to take your coconut oil as it will significantly reduce appetite and help you to feel full more quickly and be satisfied with smaller portions.
To liquify, mix 1-2 TBL of coconut oil in a mug and add hot water or herbal tea or my favorite-Coffee! Stir to melt and drink. Use the following guidelines to determine how much oil to consume before each meal: Start out slow, usually 1 teaspoon, then 1 tablespoon and see how you feel. I cook with coconut Oil. I eat eggs most every morning, and instead of cooking them in butter, I use coconut oil, which gives the eggs a fantastic mild flavor and fills up your tummy fast.
Alternatively, you can simply eat the coconut oil and let it liquify in your mouth for a few seconds before swallowing.
What is the Best Coconut Oil to Use for Weight Loss?
Be aware that not all coconut oils are created equal!
While coconut oil is very resistant to heat damage, solvents are frequently used to extract it, so sourcing high quality oil from a reputable company is of paramount importance to avoid any chemical residues.
Using only organic virgin coconut oil therapeutically for your weight loss efforts is a good idea as all the delicate micronutrients in the oil will be preserved and no chemicals will have been used in processing.

Dietary Ketosis with Coconut Oil- Ketogenic Diet
Once you are in ketosis, it only takes one cheat day to stop the fat
burning, ketotic process, and you'll have to start over. So don't start
a ketogenic diet plan just before some major food holiday, like
Thanksgiving or Christmas, unless you are sure you can weather the
pressure to eat sweets and starches...Spring is a good time for me to
start this diet, and so far...the fats are fueling my energy...I am
controlling that Carb Monster!!

OK, so I decided to keep some data about my personal findings about coconut oil and keep this as a journal to document my health. I have listed a variety of Coconut Benefits and I will add to each one if I have any experience from that
After I made the following video, it had only been 4 months since I was taking the coconut oil, now it is almost time to do a 1 year review. By the end of November 2010, I will do a one year review on the coconut oil, and this will be about the time the cold and flu season hits Southern California.
*Coconut oil is anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial. It kills viruses that have a lipid (fatty) coating, such as herpes, HIV, hepatitis C, the flu, and mononucleosis. Coconut oil isn’t a cure in itself, but it does contain these properties that fight against such ailments.
I have not had a sore throat in a very long time, I still have my tonsils.
I have not had yeast infections since I have been on low carb and taking coconut oil, I usually get a yeast infection if I take certain antibiotics.
*It also kills the bacteria that cause pneumonia, sore throats,dental cavities, urinary tract infections, meningitis, gonorrhea, food poisoning, pneumonia, and many more bacterial infections. It kills the fungus/yeast infections that cause candida, ringworm, athletes foot, thrush, jock itch, diaper rash and more.
I have a lot of energy now, I do not get tired mid day, and I can walk everyday after work for 1 hour, usually 2 miles.
I feel like it does help with weight loss, when I take the oil in the mornings, I feel a warmth, almost like a heat in my stomach, only for a short time, I am not hungry or tired
*Coconut oil is able to boost energy levels and endurance. It is not stored like other fats and actually breaks down much quicker within the liver and used like a carbohydrate. Athletes and bodybuilders use it as a natural supplement in sports drinks. It also increases your metabolism which is great for anyone wanting to lose weight*. In fact there is a whole industry devoted to losing weight through coconut products and recipes.
I use to always have to run to the bathroom, if I got nervous, stressed or even excited, now I have no problems with my bowel habits becoming out of control
*Hair Care: Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It promotes healthy hair providing it with a shinny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry.* It acts as an excellent shampoo or conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams.

Oil pulling is simple. You put a spoonful of ORGANIC Virgin Coconut oil into your mouth and swish it around for a period of 15 to 20 minutes. Coconut oil is the best oil to use, because the taste is mild and does not make you "gag". The oil is “worked” in the mouth by pushing, pulling, and sucking it through the teeth. As you work the oil, it sucks up bacteria, toxins, pus, and mucous. Don’t swallow it! Spit it out then rinse your mouth with water.
Oil pulling is best done first thing in the morning on an empty stomach before eating breakfast. After eating, bush and floss your teeth as you normally do. Oil pulling can be done one to three times a day, make sure you have an empty stomach, usually 6hrs.
We have billions of bacteria living in our mouths. Many of which produce toxins as by-products that damage the teeth and irritate the gums, causing inflammation and bleeding. An overgrowth of bacteria leads to tooth decay and gum disease, and eventually tooth loss. I have to try this, because recently I have been bitten by bugs since the weather is changing and my bites are healing faster than before.
* Mosquito repellent: Coconut oil is used in many mosquito repellents as a natural product, rather than using Deet. Just by eating it or using it as a shampoo or face cream etc., could ward of those pesky bugs!
Because of my auto immune disease, my joints are affected when I get sick, my immune system goes into attacked to fight and gets my healthy joints, as longs as I can stay healthy and not get sick with flu, colds, food poisoning, bug bites, even scratches, the coconut oil protects me.
Coconut oil is truly the healthiest oil you can consume. It is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal, and contains no trans fat (even olive oil has some trans fat). You can even use it on your skin to help prevent wrinkles.

Carb Monster-The Science of Low Carb
I find a lot of videos and research material that make me even more motivated that I am controlling my own insulin and keeping it normal, the health benefits I have been having by choosing to eat a lower carbohydrate diet and exercise, I can continue losing weight, lower my blood pressure, avoid having high cholesterol, and not becoming diabetic. My Controlling the Carb Monster is more than losing weight..its about staying healthy and being able to stay active even tho I do have an inflammatory auto immune disease, I have been in remission and now can enjoy my foods, have the energy I need to take that 2 mile daily walk, and keep track of the foods I eat, and eating clean, whole food, off the process foods which my blood sugar has been normal and my blood pressure is looking good!

After a flare up with my psoriatic arthritis and 5 weeks of Enbrel treatment,weight gain was once again happening to me, BUT!! Now,I am finally able to experience new and exciting ways to jump start my fat loss, I will have another video soon explaining more about my new ways to enhance my low carb life style, and why practicing intermittent Low Carb fasting, Oil Pulling and walking daily seems to have jump started me in the right direction and help keep my arthritis under control.

Ketones are a normal and efficient source of fuel and energy for the human body. They are produced by the liver from fatty acids, which result from the breakdown of body fat in response to the absence of glucose/sugar. In a ketogenic diet, such as Atkins ... or diets used for treating epilepsy in children, the tiny amounts of glucose required for some select functions can be met by consuming a minimum amount of carbs - or can be manufactured in the liver from PROTEIN. When your body is producing ketones, and using them for fuel, this is called "ketosis".
