Chemical Free Coconut Oil Tooth Paste

Why change your commercial toothpaste to a homemade natural toothpaste?

Well, in case you didn't know it, fluoride is highly toxic. In fact, before fluoride was deemed a "cavity fighter," it was used as insecticide and rat poison. It's true. Even more surprising is that when it comes to dental hygiene, fluoride actually does more harm than good.
Everything you always DIDN'T want to know about fluoride
For many years the message that fluoride safely prevents tooth decay has been considered almost sacred. This idea also came from the same “chemicals for better living” era that also was told to the public that smoking cigarettes helped soothed the throat!!, why were we so miss informed? Wow!.

Here is a little known fact about Fluoride that maybe  didn't cross your mind.
Fluoride is a pollutant - a by-product of copper, iron and aluminum manufacturing. In the 1930's  a study (funded by one of the country's largest aluminum companies) concluded that fluoride prevented tooth decay and when this miracle chemical was added to water, it will give you healthy teeth and gums and totally bright smile..
Fluoride is a poison; it enhances the brain's absorption of aluminum. Too many health problems to mention right now, but if you take the time to read up on fluoride, you will know that by eliminating this toxic chemical out of your daily toothpaste and water, you might notice a big difference in how you feel, besides seeing  great improvement with your dental health.

Why Coconut Oil?
100% Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil has a richer flavor than Refined Coconut Oil.

The oil is minimally processed, which results in an oil that has a much higher nutrient content (proteins, vitamins and anti-oxidants).Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil provides the greatest amount of nutrients are preserved .

**Please don't use Refined Coconut Oil.
Refined Coconut Oil is both tasteless & odorless. It is the most processed coconut oil. It goes through a pretty intensive process that deodorizes and bleaches the oil, most of the nutrients are gone.

Because there are no ingredients in the toothpaste that will go bad…this toothpaste with natural 100% Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil, will keep for a long time, but making it in small batches is the best way that worked for me, since I brush 3 times daily, I usually make a fresh batch each morning.

Why Baking soda?
Some people take baking soda daily to balance their pH levels and swear by its effects.

Now, I don’t sweeten my coconut oil tooth paste, but you can use stevia, which is not bad for your teeth or you could use xylitol too.
What I love most is there is nothing that I am putting in my mouth that I don’t know how to pronounce.

Coconut Oil is packed with many healthy benefits, especially when you oil pull, pulling the toxins out of your body, just by swishing, instead of using that chemical mouth wash…you get a natural clean fresh breath and healthy gums and strong bones supporting your teeth. One of the greatest benefits of brushing with coconut oil and baking soda is a natural tooth whitener, not an artificial chemical tooth whitener. The coconut oil and baking soda brings back your natural tooth color and prevents stains from occurring

Oh yeah, I also rub coconut oil on my cats teeth and gums, I have 3 cats, and their dental health is important to me and saves money not having to take them to the vet for teeth cleaning.  Rubbing coconut oil on the gums at night also relieves any soreness they might have. Plus a healthy coat of fur and also good internal benefits, just like humans!

RECIPE FOR NATURAL COCONUT OIL TOOTHPASTE
2 table spoon. virgin coconut oil
1/2 table spoon. baking soda
1/4 tea spoon finely ground sea salt
*add stevia or xylitol if prefer
* add mint oil extract if prefer

**If you are concerned about the coconut oil clogging your drains, just spit the toothpaste in a trash can when you are finished

HOW I NATURALLY WHITEN MY TEETH WITH COCONUT OIL

Here is a playlist of coconut oil benefits, some videos I made, some videos other people made. I love to take a few hours and watch the playlist..it really helps remind me how much healthier I do feel when I ingest coconut oil to my foods..unrefined virgin coconut oil....even my cats, especially the older cat will lick his lips when I ask him if he wants some coconut oil, it's to funny to see him do that, next time I need to get the camera ready to catch his reaction when I mention coconut oil.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So many times I want to reach through the computer scream and grab that toothpaste or the cosmetic wipe out of your hand!! Coconut Oil can substitute most any product out there.  I am so happy to continue to update my toothpaste/teeth whitening experiment over the years. Never did I believe I could get my teeth brighter and whiter with using baking soda and coconut oil....and of course oil pulling for removal of toxin and strong healthy gums and bones. At my age, 56, teeth will naturally yellow over the years, so I knew I would never have that artificial illuminating light bulb teeth color. Here is my latest update on coconut oil/baking soda toothpaste to help whiten my teeth and also have given up fluoride toothpaste, since I don't want any more chemicals in my body.

Living Grain Free - Coconut and Almond Flour Biscuits

I've been trying to find a grain free biscuit recipe that has all the goodness of fiber, protein and low carb. I wanted to find away to use coconut flour and almond flour and coconut oil and came up with this recipe that I think is a winner in my family. I don't miss grain much anymore, but if I did decide to eat the bun on my burger, I would usually end up with joint pain and feeling of dry skin and bloating. Giving up grains was not that hard to do since I know it does effect my health and for some reason having an auto immune inflammatory disease is a great reminder to stay away from wheat or other grains, thanks to Wheat Belly written by William Davis MD, I have learned so much and am still learning about all the more reason why a change in what we eat can make a huge difference in how we feel. Here is my recipes that can be modified in many ways.

MY CATS EAT GRAIN-FREE CAT FOOD TOO!! I've gone grain free, gluten free and experimenting with many recipes using almond flour and coconut flour The wheat and grains today are so over processed and causes so many flareup with my arthritis, and finding an alternative nut flour is the most amazing feeling of happiness..I don't worry about fats, too many calories, or heating almond flour..I do not eat biscuits often, but its is a treat on a Sunday morning, eating a grain-free biscuit, drinking my coffee with coconut oil and heavy whipping cream, poached egg and bacon. Blanched Almond Flour is the best almond meal you can find on the market. Made from skinless California almonds with no additives or fillers, this nut flour is milled to a very fine consistency that produces amazing results especially for low carb baking! What's the difference between Blanched Almond Flour and Natural Almond Flour? Natural Almond flour has the skins on it..that's all...more nuttier flavor. I use the blanched almond flour in this recipe. Shelf-Life: Stores for 6 to 9 months. Almond flour may also be refrigerated or frozen for storage purposes. But if you are going to do alot of baking with almond flour, in my opinion it is best to make fresh batches of biscuits each time

I use 6 egg white to make the biscuit fluffy and they will be dense, but the texture is awesome to spread butter, or cheese or even sugar free jam..is it easy to make your own fresh, no artificial sweeten jams
RECIPE:
6 eggs whites -hormone free, cage free hen eggs are the best!!!
 3/4 cup blanched almond flour
 1/4 cup coconut flour
 1 teaspoon baking powder
 1/4 teaspoon salt(sea salt)
1 tablespoons coconut oil, make sure it is hard, not melted
3 tablespoon of cold butter cut in cubes
***chill the mixture in the frig for about 15 minutes
 Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
In a medium bowl whisk egg whites until they form peaks.
Fold the egg whites into the chilled flour mixture
mix gently well drop the biscuit dough onto the parchment paper, flatten 3/4 inch with fork or by hand

*One trick I found is to make sure the butter and coconut oil stay cold, and work fast to get the dough incorporated
Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown, brush with coconut oil to get a crispy crust.

For a sweet treat, add cinnamon and sprinkle stevia or truvia
The almond flour is rich in protein, coconut flour is high in dietary fiber and protein, and is gluten-free. It has more fiber than gluten-based grains

good qualityVirgin Coconut Oil-http://www.tropicaltraditions.com/virgin_coconut_oil.htm

Where to buy almond flour-you want to buy the almond flour that is super fine, for this recipe, the natural almond flour has the skins left on are great for making crunchy topping or sprinkle over yogurt. Kitty Kats Love Coconut Oil-update

Here is my original post on how my cats love coconut oil-as of today, they still get their dose of coconut oil, and my older cat Dante is now over 7yrs old and coconut oil is rubbed on his gums in the evening after he eats to keep his teeth and gums healthy.

Dante age 7  falls asleep right away after the coconut oil rub.

Lana age 3 loves to sleep on the bed and cuddle

I love my pets, the more I find out about coconut oil, the more excited I get. My cats were rescue kittys. I adopted my male cat Dante in 2007, he had no health issue when we adopted him, soon after about 3 years he was less active living in an apartment, but having lots of toys and running up and down the apartment hall. Soon, I felt it was time to get him a kitty friend. I went back to the same shelter June 2010 and pick out a female kitty, who looked healthy and was about 6 weeks old and only 3-4lbs. I took my new kitty to the vet to get checked out, and it was soon discovered that she had feline herpes, a respiratory infection which causes sneezing and wheezy asthma. It was very important that Dante be checked out to see if he caught the infection, later to learn that he too has Feline Herpes, but was treated with antibiotics and Lysine and both kitty cats are fine. A few month later,Lana became a chronic groomer to humans and to Dante. Dante has a build up of tartar on his teeth and became over weight by 5lbs, he weighs 17lbs and Lana weight about 6lbs, but she plays hard , she pants alot and a little wheezy.
I wanted to find natural remedies to help both kittys to live a long healthy happy life. Coconut oil is part of their diet, and I know for sure, there will be less hair balls hacking up from both cats and Dante will have more energy and healthy teeth and gums and the fur coats have already become shiny and less shedding. I made a quick video, introducing my kitty cats and what happened to them after a nibble of the coconut oil.
Now, when I either oil pull- 1 tablespoon for(15 minutes, then spit out the toxic material in a trash bag) or consume 1 tablespoon the coconut oil, the kitty cats also get the dose of the oil, together we will be documenting our progress over the next few months

I love my pets, I want the best health possible for them. I consume and swish coconut oil daily, the kitty cats began a tiny amount once a day and I will be documenting their results, especially with Dante who has tartar build up on his teeth.

# Coconut oil is a safe, natural and edible oil that can be very beneficial for your domestic pet, including cats and dogs. The oil is derived from pressed coconuts and the purest form of the product is 100% cold-pressed virgin coconut oil, which means that it has not been heated or refined and contains only high quality oil. Coconut oil is available at health food stores or online.
Skin and Coat
# Coconut oil can be very beneficial for pets when taken internally. Adding the oil to their food is the simplest way to include it in their diet. Just a few drops a day can be very beneficial to the coat, moisturizing the skin and hair. Coconut oil can be used in its semi-solid form or warmed slightly to make it liquid. For dogs and cats, add 1/4 teaspoon of oil for every 10 pounds they weigh. Slowly increase to 1 teaspoon for every 10 pounds of weight per day, or 1 Tablespoon for every 30 pounds. Increase the dosage slowly, and if you notice any irregular bowel movements or an upset stomach, decrease the amount you're giving them. Allow your pet time to adjust to smaller amounts before attempting to increase it again.
Healing Properties
# Externally, coconut oil can be applied to cracked paw pads, wounds, scratches and cuts, like a healing salve. It can be used inside the mouth on sores and on teeth as a toothpaste. Coconut oil may also be applied to fungal infections, bites and stings--skin ailments of almost any kind.
In the Ears
# Slightly warmed coconut oil may be dropped inside your pet's ears to treat ear mites and infected ears. If using a cotton swab, be careful not to place the swab very far into the ear--use it only to apply the oil to the outside of the ear canal, where it can get into the ear on its own.
Skin Irritations
# Coconut oil may get rid of odors on your pet's coat and help cats to eliminate fur balls. It can also benefit pets with difficult skin conditions such as eczema, allergy to fleas or other allergies.

Update:: the experiment continues 2-19-2011

The experiment continues-I received a free sample of Expeller- Pressed Certified USDA Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. Both Kitty Cats were not tricked in anyway to eat the cat food with the coconut oil in it. I let the coconut oil remain in solid form so that they could see it, I did not blend it or hide it from them.

How is Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil for Pets Different?
Tropical Traditions, Inc Answers-
"Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil for Pets is the same as our regular certified organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil, except that it has not been completely deodorized and will have a "smokey" flavor to it. Those wanting a bland coconut oil may find the taste too strong. It is still certified organic and is still a high quality edible coconut oil."

When to Drink Your Protein Drink when Working Out

When my arthritis is under control and behaving itself, I can do most any activity I want, but I never really though of trying a protein shake until now, I really would like to replace my morning breakfast with a shake sometimes, so I am really anxious to give this a go, and being creative with my low carb lifestyle and passing it on to my kids and extended family members. So, I did some reading up on protein shakes and found out a lot of info on when you should drink this, I am a beginner, and I am also someone who loves to research, so now I know when to drink this protein shake for the most beneficial part of my day, especially if it is my trotting day, I am still anxious to continue that couch to 5K and do my 5 mile bike ride all year around, since I live in Southern California, it is almost the law if you don't get out and do some kind of activity, that's part of the whole lifestyle change, getting up and moving! The importance of protein in every day life helps build and repair muscle, especially when you are doing that intense workout, of just keeping an active lifestyle. Losing weight and keeping fit is so important to me, at any age, its never to late to change for a better health.

I still doing my morning oil pulling with coconut oil, and add coconut oil to my coffee, but now I will be adding it to my protein shake, just because, the benefits of coconut oil has really made a huge difference in my life.

Here is a list of the when and why you should drink your protein drink
starting in order the importance:

Immediately After A Workout
If you only take protein powder once per day, this is the absolute best time to take it. Immediately after you finish your workout, your body needs raw materials to rebuild and recover with. If you don't supply the raw materials through eating, your body will break down muscle from elsewhere in your body in order to rebuild the damaged areas. This is very counterproductive as you can well imagine. By taking in some protein (20 to 30 grams or so) within minutes after exercise, you provide your body with the raw materials it needs to recover without breaking down its own muscle tissue.

An Hour After A Workout
About an hour following a workout, your body has settled down from the excitement and is ready to really start rebuilding. The protein that you took in immediately following the workout has been metabolized and your body is looking for more. Another protein shake at this time is a good way to help speed recovery. Try to take in another 20 to 30 grams about an hour after working out.

First Thing In The Morning
Immediately upon waking, or as soon after that as you can manage, take a scoop of protein powder. Your body has just been through an (approximately) 8 hour fast and is hungry for nutrients. Feed your body! protein powder is more quickly assimilated than solid food and gets into your muscles faster. This protein shot gives your metabolism a boost, which can help with fat loss. Be sure to follow it with a good breakfast, of course. For me, if I am going to drink a protein drink, my breakfast will be only 1 egg and cheese or a low carb piece of toast with butter or almond butter, Breakfast is the most important meal to start my low carb day, I try to keep my blood sugar steady, if not, the Carb Monster comes out to play!

Last Thing At Night
You're about to sleep for 6 to 8 hours. That's a long time without protein. Unsweetened almond milk is very low carb--It has1 g of carbs per 4 ounces. That makes it lower carb than cream! At night, you want your protein to be metabolized slowly so that your body gets a more even supply over the course of the night. .

In-between Meals
A quick protein shake can be a great snack in between meals. It helps keep your body supplied with protein all day long. This is especially useful if you tend to have long periods of time in-between meals. It could mean the difference between losing muscle and keeping muscle

With Meals
Taking a protein supplement with meals is a handy way to increase the protein content of a meal. This is perfect for when you eat a meal that is somewhat low in protein.

Half hour before a workout.
This sets up the "anabolic window" before your workout and provides your muscles with adequate nutrition if you are working out with weights because weight training breaks down muscle and won't be as severe.

So now I know to remember Never drink a protein supplement immediately before working out! It won't boost your energy because basically, all it does is sit in the stomach and causes bloating, which is valuable blood that should be going to working muscles gets sent to the digestive system to try and digest it.
If you are looking for a low carb/all natural  Whey Protein Powder made with Stevia , I would suggest trying AboutTime 100% ALL Natural Whey Protein Isolate Sweetened with Stevia

I'm Ready-The Basic Ketogenic Diet

"A high fat diet is healthier for you, when it is eaten while carbohydrate consumption is kept low"

Well, it's that time again, to jump start my fat loss and recharge my body into a fat burner. I enjoy my eating lifestyle; I am a mishmash between Low Carb, Atkins and Paleo, and I love to switch up as I skip and hop and jump through my mid 50's. The age 55 does not scare me, it just make me work even harder to break the cycle of what being 50 is(becoming younger with knowledge, wisdom and life experience)-don't be afraid, embrace life and go for it..it's never too late to take control, right!
So, to kick off the summer, which here in Southern California is year around...I am preparing to start the Fat Blast Ketogenic Diet. I call it a Fat Blast because I will be upping my fat, lowering my protein and only eating vegetable digestible fibrous carbs, such as green beans, spinach, broccoli, and Romaine and other various lettuces. I will be cutting out sugar for the next 4 weeks that includes any fruit sugars. My main fat intake will be from Coconut Oil.

The reason why I will lower my protein intake is that too much protein will cause the body to prevent the shift into ketosis because the liver will convert some of the protein into glucose, this glucose will then be use first and slow down the ketogenic process of the diet. So, as I go along with my food planning, I will basically stick to the same foods, and modify the vegetable and my source of protein. I plan to make a video soon on my progress and will document my ketone levels and of course measure with the ketone stixs. I need to purchase some more coconut oil, and also make sure I have my supply of daily vitamins, supplement and plenty of water throughout my fat fast. Today, I am finishing up the watermelon, and gosh is it ever so sweet! My taste buds cannot tolerate too many sweets, and as fruit is always refreshing to eat, it really is too high on the glycemic index for me. I do so good on a higher fat diet, because as I am in my mid 50’s, my body needs the good fats and good source of protein and very little carbs to keep me going all day. I have very little cravings for sweets. I get my satisfaction of sweets from fruit, but I look forward to my coconut oil coffee and cream and sautee’ all the veggies in coconut oil. I usually do a 16hr fast between dinner and breakfast meaning. I will not eat for 16 hours after  my last meal of the day. I will get up in the morning, do my oil pulling with coconut oil and have ice water with some apple cider vinegar mixed.  I will drink plenty of water throughout the day and evening. I plan to start the Ketogenic diet June 1st. This is not about cutting calories, it about releasing fat reserves and teaching my body to burn them. This week I will be planning out my menu, and getting all the foods I need, as most of the foods will have a shelf life, I will go weekly to get fresh veggies and freeze any meats I purchase usually in bulk. I enjoy cooking my own meals; I really think that once you look at your meals as fuel, you can enjoy them and know you are in control of your body and look at food as your friend not your enemy.
I will be making my own apple cider vinaigrette with coconut oil dressing for my salads, so simple and easy...I love it warm over a bacon salad too! I will be eliminating tomatoes and onions, since tomatoes are night shade, and they do tend to aggravate my inflammatory disease sometimes, but I love a good Roma, so I will see how long I can go with out my tomato! I season all my foods with cayenne pepper, black pepper, garlic powder and sea salt and that's it! Also the coconut oil will be organic virgin unrefined.

Here is a list of staple foods I will be getting soon: I am on a severe budget, so eggs and bacon are most expensive, but necessary for me to go hormone/cagefree and preservative free.
Ground Beef
Roast Beef
Chicken-hormone free
Duck -(maybe)
Tuna
Pork
Bacon-no preservatives
Eggs-hormone free
Butter
Cheese
Coconut oil
Heavy Cream
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cucumbers
Olives
Celery
Green Beans
Leaf Lettuces,Romaine
Almonds
Once I get started on the menu, I will share the basic breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mostly stir fried and oven roasted. I do have a pressure cooker, so it will be exciting to prepare my meals in a variety of way, using the same foods prepared a different way each time.

Here is a video I made March 2012 explaining what I was doing back then and it worked!
This healthy High Fats jumps starts and Fuels my fat burning with high energy for exercising and staying active and fat loss. The Apple Cider Vinegar acts as the detox tonic helping purify my liver and keeping my joints healthy along with the Coconut Oil. "Reducing the amount of carbohydrates and increasing the fat and protein in your diet has the effect of switching your body into fat burning mode. Instead of using the sugar from carbs for fuel, your body burns stored fat for energy, and it's this fat burning process which greatly improves health and well-being".......

My 3 year Review on Coconut Oil

I wanted to give an update since my last video filmed in 2009 My 4th month review on coconut oil

I have been consuming (1-2 tablespoons per day)coconut oil for 3 years now, and I still feel that this oil has provided me with so many health benefits.
 I cook with the oil,
I make chocolates with the oil,
I add it to my coffee ,
I use coconut oil as a tooth paste
I also oil pull at least 3 times per week.
I use coconut oil as a deep conditioner for my hair and scalp and also skin moisturizer.

***so many more ways I use virgin coconut oil to list. (NaturalNews) Coconut oil is a popular nutritional oil derived from the meat of matured coconuts. Coconut has long been a primary source of food throughout the tropics Learn more: http://www.naturalnews.com/036156_Coconut_oil_superfood_healing.html Virgin coconut oil is the healthiest oil you can consume because it is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal, and contains no trans fat.

Low Carb Comfort Foods and Low Carb Books & Recipes

I decided to post some of the books that I think will really enhance your low carb lifestyle. I personally feel that before anyone decides to live the low carb lifestyle, it is so important that you read as much as you can. The fun part about living the low carb lifestyle is that your can be so creative with your meals. I love going back into the kitchen and cooking everything fresh. Yes, I know it could be time consuming to have to chop all your veggies, and prepare your meats and cook on the stove instead of the microwave, but it is such a rewarding feeling to see a meal prepare, the old fashion way, just like Grandma did. I have so many memories of my great grandmother, her name was Rose, she grew up in a traditional German home.   I remember the eggs, butter and cream, and fresh farm Wisconsin cheese she ate every morning, everything cooked fresh from the farm and the meats(not fatten from grain or injected with hormones and fat plumper)came from the local butcher. All the produce was grown in the garden, and she did a lot of canning to preserve her fruits and veggies. So, this brings me back to home cooking and finding fresh produce from the Farmer's Market.. I believe low carb was the only way people ate back in the old days before the processed food industry and HFCS(High fructose corn syrup),  and the "low- fat" craziness started, it was a quick fix and on the go lifestyle and I was on board in those days, back in the late 80's and all through the 90's, low fat, low calorie, and miserable starvation for quick weight loss, only to gain it all back, because hunger always seem to take over, when the fat was removed from my diet.

Now, I remember thinking that back when I was young, my grandmother did a lot of baking, and made a lot of casseroles, all the home good cooking that to me is called "comfort food" . Now, of course, when I think of casseroles, I think of pasta, the high carbohydrate pasta. and the gravies thicken with corn starch or white flour. And the infamous potato. Nothing, I repeat, NOthing tasted better than a Sunday roast with mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, fresh veggies from the garden, and some sort of dessert to end the meal. Now, I bet you are wonder why I can live the low carb lifestyle when I can have loving memories of eating at the dinner table filled with a high carb filled meal, well, it was hard at first, but that's the great thing about the low carb lifestyle. As I got older, and my metabolism and my health changed over the years, I became carb sensitive. I no long can eat potatoes, breads, pastas, rice, and most high glycemic fruits any more. So, when I get the feeling of eating food for comfort with the weather changing and the days are shorter, I get really excited to start with all the low carb recipes I have created to try out on my family. I love to cook, no matter how long it takes me. Sure, I still have the microwave, and sure my pots and pans are getting close to going to its grave, but for some reason, that feeling of fresh foods, chopping and preparing gives me comfort. I no longer have a Grandmother, or a mother to make those comfort foods for me, but that's ok, I still have the fond memories, and I still have my grown kids to be my taste testers.    My kids are picky eater, but for some reason, low carb comes natural to them, because growing up, I really did not make a lot of sweets desserts, but I did make a lot of Hamburger Helper, because it was quick out of the box, and easy to make and filling. But, my kids did start gaining weight from those quickie high carb meals I was making back about 2 years ago, but now, its all about healthy low carb alternatives, which are the healthiest for them, and they themselves, are seeing results in their own weight loss.     I hope to pass on a new tradition of low carb cooking in a high carb environment. I have my comfort foods now, all low carb and these fresh low carb, non process foods makes me feel fantastic in my weight loss journey to a better health. It's back to the kitchen for some good Low Carb comfort food cooking! I have several product that I buy, especially Dreamfield Pasta, which is why I can have those pasta nights, and gosh, do I love those nights. Stay tuned, I just might make a really good low carb Beef Stroganoff video soon.

Make sure you buy the Organic Un-Refined Virgin Coconut Oil, there are a lot on the market, I don't have a favorite, but I am trying all brands and have enjoyed the coconut oil mostly in my coffee with some heavy cream, and chocolate sugar free syrup(DaVinci make a lot of good flavors), yum!, Also, I have even tried coconut oil mixed in with my favorite All natural 0 calorie, 0 carb soda. called Zevia. I will do a review on that refreshing soda soon. Also reviews on Truvia, Stevia and all other natural sweeteners for  low carb desserts made with coconut and coconut oil.

Other studies confirm that MCFAs are oxidized (burned up and used for energy) instead of being stored in the fatty tissue of the body, as are the LCFAs. As a result, you generate more heat to burn calories, kick-starting the body into burning up existing fat stores.

Popular LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore and his very cute wife Christine talk about fat, even saturated fat, and the important role it plays in the low-carb lifestyle.
Jimmy shows you why fats like butter, macadamia nut oil, avocado oil, and even coconut oil are indeed healthy for you when you combine it with a low-carbohydrate nutritional approach.

Detox-Coconut Oil Benefits- Does it really work?

OK, so I decided to keep some data about my personal findings about coconut oil and keep this as a journal to document my health. I have listed a variety of Coconut Benefits and I will add to each one if I have any experience from that

After I made the following video, it had only been 4 months since I was taking the coconut oil, now it is almost time to do a 1 year review. By the end of November 2010, I will do a one year review on the coconut oil, and this will be about the time the cold and flu season hits Southern California

Coconut Oil Benefits In Medicine

Traditional medicine among the Asian and Pacific population have used the healing properties of coconut oil extensively and to great effect. Pacific Islanders consider coconut oil to be the cure for all illness.
Scientists have recently discovered the healing properties of coconut oil and how it can be used in modern medicine to treat a variety of conditions. Because it is a natural product it doesn’t contain the man made additives that are often found in similar products.
Here’s  are some of the reasons why coconut oil is so highly regarded by me:
I have not had the flu in over 2 years, I did get the regular flu shot in 2008, but in 2009 the Swine Flu shot I did not take.

*Coconut oil is anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial. It kills viruses that have a lipid (fatty) coating, such as herpes, HIV, hepatitis C, the flu, and mononucleosis. Coconut oil isn’t a cure in itself, but it does contain these properties that fight against such ailments.

I have not had a sore throat in a very long time, I still have my tonsils.

I have not had yeast infections since I have been on low carb and taking coconut oil, I usually get a yeast infection if I take certain antibiotics.

*It also kills the bacteria that cause pneumonia, sore throats, dental cavities, urinary tract infections, meningitis, gonorrhea, food poisoning, pneumonia, and many more bacterial infections. It kills the fungus/yeast infections that cause candida, ringworm, athletes foot, thrush, jock itch, diaper rash and more.

I have a lot of energy now, I do not get tired mid day, and I can walk everyday after work for 1 hour, usually 2 miles.
I feel like it does help with weight loss, when I take the oil in the mornings, I feel a warmth, almost like a heat in my stomach, only for a short time, I am not hungry or tired

*Coconut oil is able to boost energy levels and endurance. It is not stored like other fats and actually breaks down much quicker within the liver and used like a carbohydrate. Athletes and bodybuilders use it as a natural supplement in sports drinks. It also increases your metabolism which is great for anyone wanting to lose weight*. In fact there is a whole industry devoted to losing weight through coconut products and recipes.

I use to always have to run to the bathroom, if I got nervous, stressed or even excited, now I have no problems with my bowel habits becoming out of control

* Digestion – Coconut oil helps in improving the digestive system and absorption of fat soluble vitamins, minerals and amino acids thus prevents various stomach and digestion related problems including irritable bowel syndrome. The saturated fats present in coconut oil have anti microbial properties and help in dealing with various bacteria, fungi, parasites, etc., that cause indigestion. Diabetics use it to reduce their symptoms a d the risk of diabetes is reduced with regular use of coconut oil in your cooking.
* Coconut oil contains high levels of anti-oxidants which help to protect the body from free radicals and prevent degenerative diseases and premature aging.
* Coconut oil is actually good for your heart despite the bad press it has received over the years. It contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps to prevent various heart related problems such as high ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels and high blood pressure.
Other Coconut Oil Benefits

I have dry scalp from medications I take and also my hair is growing faster than before, it is the longest I have had since I was a teenager

*Hair Care: Coconut oil is one of the best natural nutrition for hair. It promotes healthy hair providing it with a shinny complexion. Regular massage of the head with coconut oil ensures that your scalp is free of dandruff, lice, and lice eggs, even if your scalp is dry.* It acts as an excellent shampoo or conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. It is therefore used as hair care oil and used in manufacturing various conditioners, and dandruff relief creams.

I have not tried this yet, but for sure I will, and let you know

* Stress Relief: Coconut oil is very soothing and hence it helps in removing stress. Applying coconut oil to the head followed with a gentle massage helps in removing mental fatigue.
I slather the oil all over my skin, and I feel refreshed

* Skin Care: Coconut oil is excellent massage oil for the skin as well. It acts as an effective moisturizer on all types of skins including dry skin. The benefit of coconut oil on the skin is comparable to that of mineral oil. But unlike mineral oil, there is no chance of having any adverse side effects on the skin. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, eczema and other skin infections. Therefore coconut oil forms the basic ingredient of various body care products such as soaps, lotions, creams, etc., used for skin care.

* Anti-Itch Cream: Coconut oil is anti-inflammatory, so it’s possible it would bring some relief from bug bites, as it promotes healing.
* Healing Balm: Since it’s anti-inflammatory, coconut oil might be useful as a salve to speed healing of bruises, strains, and sore muscles.
I have to try this, because recently I have been bitten by bugs since the weather is changing and my bites are healing faster than before.

* Mosquito repellent: Coconut oil is used in many mosquito repellents as a natural product, rather than using Deet. Just by eating it or using it as a shampoo or face cream etc., could ward of those pesky bugs!
Because of my auto immune disease, my joints are affected when I get sick, my immune system goes into attacked to fight and gets my healthy joints, as longs as I can stay healthy and not get sick with flu, colds, food poisoning, bug bites, even scratches, the coconut oil protects me.

Coconut oil is truly the healthiest oil you can consume. It is rich in lauric acid, which is known for being antiviral, antibacterial and anti fungal, and contains no trans fat (even olive oil has some trans fat). You can even use it on your skin to help prevent wrinkles.
